All Shall Be Well represented the first Virginia Astley album since 1986's Hope In A Darkened Heart. Virginia had focused the previous five years on raising her daughter, Florence.

'My Smallest Friend' features Florence singing.

The CD booklet for All Shall Be Well featured a biography (in Japanese) and also the lyrics to the songs.

'Blue Sky, White Sky' was co-written with Kate St John, originally one-third of The Ravishing Beauties and later of The Dream Academy. Kate also embarked on her own solo career in later years.

'Blue Sky, White Sky' is based on a theme by Mozart.

The string arrangements for 'My Smallest Friend', 'Although I Know' and 'I Live For The Day' were orchestrated by Virginia's father, film and television composer Edwin 'Ted' Astley.

TRIVIA

'How I Miss You' uses part of the melody that Virginia used in the theme music to a 1989 Channel 4 TV programme called The World Of Herbs.

Edwin 'Ted' Astley (Virginia's father) was an established film and television composer. He's best known for British TV themes and scores, including the main themes for The Saint, Danger Man, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) and Department S.
