NOTESMaiden Newton Ecliptic was originally released as a self-produced CD by Virginia back in 2007. This is a reinterpretation of the album with new pieces which was released in 2021. Key personnel on this release: Virginia Astley (flute and spoken word), Florence Astley (harp). Engineer: Hywel Wigley. The inner sleeve states the purpose of the recording: "This is based on a lengthy walk around the village of Maiden Newton. Its time-frame is a whole day, so we start in the early morning, go through the day, then return to the morning again. It is set in February, when the world is on the cusp of spring". Maiden Newton Ecliptic was recorded and mixed at Acapela studio in Pentyrch, Cardiff in March 2020. It describes a twenty-four hour walk round the West Dorset village of Maiden Newton. A day on the cusp of spring. The final two tracks are at midsummer and are looking back |
TRIVIAVirginia often likes to re-use previous musical works and some of the recordings on this album feature the tune from 'I Live In Dreams'. |
