This was a live performance originally recorded at Riverside Studios in London on 8th October 1985. The audio files were remastered by Martin Stephenson for a download release in 2020.

The key personnel are: Virginia Astley (flute & piano), Jocelyn Pook (viola), Anne Stephenson (violin), Martin Stephenson (guitar), Audrey Riley (cello), Michael Cartwright (bass) and Lesley Saxon (drums).

'Tender' was released as a single in September 1985. 'A Long Time Ago' and 'Mindless Days' featured as B-side tracks.

'Soaring' was written by Russell Webb, who also worked with Virginia on her 1983 debut album From Gardens Where We Feel Secure.

'I Live In Dreams' is an old song dating back to the the Ravishing Beauties days. A recorded version was released on a cassette compilation titled State Of Affairs in 1984. It appears under the title ’Shadows Will Fall Behind’ as a B-side track on the 12" release of 'Darkness Has Reached Its End'.

Each of the various versions are different to the other: the live version that The Ravishing Beauties performed is much slower, while each subsequent version also features rearranged lyrics. ’Shadows Will Fall Behind’ also runs longer than the other versions.

'Darkness Has Reached Its End' was released as a single in November 1985.

'Love's A Lonely Place To Be' was released as a single in January 1983 and reached No. 7 in the UK Independent charts at the time.
